What happens when you cross an ape with neon and nonsense? You get a sensible collaboration between RSVP Gallery and A Bathing Ape of course. Though Nigo has parted ways with A Bathing Ape in terms of direction, the staple streetwear brand continues to bring solid collections and collaborations with other major names. The Chicago based boutique have been carriers of Bape for some time now and if you know what’s what with the culture then you should also know how close RSVP Gallery and Bape really are. It’s about that time for another 40oz NYC snapback to crash the internet. As a follow up from his Larry Clark ‘Kids’ snapback, the NY native calls to the Windy. Yes yes folks, the NY hustler calls upon the Chicago brand #BEEN #TRILL (Virgil Abloh) for a collaboration to claim king of the snapbacks for this season. Going with the well-known black hat/white lettering scheme, the snapback will be on sale 4/29 on the 40 oz NYC website with it’s normal time limit in place.
Your head ain’t ready for this collaboration. NOWHERE and A Bathing Ape are setting to release arguably this biggest collaboration of 2013. Both companies founded by the streetwear legend Nigo, have seen years of unpredictable success since 1993. Twenty years down the road and they present a collaboration of APE HEAD T-shirts that will be worked on by 20 famous artist consisted of whom you may not know and of whom you certainly know. Staple puts out their lookbook for Summer 2013 threads and the pieces manifest the image of summer themselves. With an evident approach of a laid back, ease type of design, Staple made a statement of subtlety for Spring and Summer. Acronym has returned this season with another collection of there military inspired yet street ready clothing. Functionality plays a major roll in this brand. If you watched the right movies or Japanese anime growing up then you can easily see that we are stepping into the future of fashion for the common city slicker.
Grime music isn’t the most worldwide known genre of music, but the folks at Mishka don’t give a shit and have linked up with grime artist for their new season. Before getting deeper into the clothing, let me reveal to you what you already know about Grime music. Do you remember Dizzee Rascal? Well then there you go jack. Of course that’s a vague explanation of the genre but that’s a good place to start. Moving on from the early 2000′s, Mishka had teamed up with some known names of Grime such as Spooky, Butterz, True Tiger, and more to display their Spring line up for 2013. You might have seen the Alife logo floating around from time to time in the past few years and wondered why you weren’t cool enough to find a piece from them for your own stunting. Well as much as Alife is a staple in the streetwear scene and in New York, the brands flagship store had to come to a close a few years back. But don’t trip! Alife has announced that they will be re-opening their flagship store in New York on April 11th. This is just in time for you to cop some of their upcoming tees for the summer. This past Thursday was filled with great shows in the windy city. But at Lincoln Hall came along a few artist who know how to rock the stage. Hosted by Supercolds own Mike Supercold, Retrospect headlined a show that had energy built up from performances from The WHOevers, Fess Grandiose, and Impolite Society. KNOWPASSION filmed the performance and put together a recap for those of you who missed out on the spectacle. Shout out to ShowYouSuck and Chandler London for also bringing the ruckus.
